New Bedford Half Marathon

New Bedford Half Marathon Confirmation

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It was nice to be home and get some stuff done, however I got very distracted by Scandal. I have never seen the show and randomly decided to put on an episode and I am completely hooked. It is so addicting and entertaining. I wasted so many hours watching the show instead of cleaning the house or working on the blog. Opps! Life goes on…

Birthday party at the Greatest Bar

On Saturday, Vinnie and I went out to The Greatest Bar to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. I haven’t been to club type bar in a long time, it was pretty fun and nice to change things up. But, I drank way too much and was worthless all Sunday. It totally screwed up my plans for getting things done. I was so lazy, I couldn’t even cook dinner so we walked to Whole Foods to grab some food. I also picked up some Kevita to try to counteract all the toxins I put into my body. I could use about 5 more!

The one thing I did accomplish was signing up for the New Bedford Half Marathon in March. I finally bite the bullet and registered. I have been thinking about it for a really long time and decided that competing in races is a great way to work at my goals for 2015. I have run a few races but I have never followed a plan to increase my speed and get a faster time. For this race, I have 9 weeks until the race so I have been looking at a few training plans. I want to find one that has a good mix of steady state runs and speed workouts.

Can you recommend any training plans?
Do you have any races coming up?

    1. Same here! I had no idea what to expect when I put on the pilot of Scandal and now I am so hooked. It is incredibly addicting. Is it bad that I want Fitz and Olivia to be together??

  1. Ah you should totally e-mail me about training plans so I remember… I can’t find one right now because I have to go run (irony) but this is so exciting!!! I have a good one I used for my first half… Congrats you are going to get addicted!!

    1. Scandal is so good! I made Vinnie catch up to me so we can watch together… and he is now addicted!
I can’t wait to really get into my training for the Half! I need to structure!

  2. I’ve heard Scandal is really good but I’ve never seen it. I’ll have to check it out!

And congrats on signing up for a half marathon! I know Hal Higdon has some good free training plans but I’ve never ran farther than a 10k so I can’t give my opinion on it. Either way, I’m sure you’re going to do great!!

    1. You should def check out Scandal, but be careful – it’s addicting. I have used Hal Hidgon before for marathon training. His programs are great! I might end up using one of his, but I am also hoping to find one with a little more speed work.

    1. We are trucking through Scandal! Vinnie has caught up to me so now we watch together every night. We will be through Season 2 shortly!

  3. I’m sure you can find a training plan that fits your needs online-I also remember that “Run Less Run Faster” is very focused on speed work and tempo runs, but you are only running 3 days week. I am a running coach and make customized training plans if you’re interested in something like that. You can find more info on my blog. I’ve never seen scandal- it sounds like it is a potentially addicting show!

  4. Congrats on biting the bullet and signing up! There are a ZILLION training plans out there. I usually use Hal Higdon’s, but I always modify them to fit my life…because, let’s face it, unless running is your full-time job a lot of these plans can be slightly more demanding than life allows! One of my major goals for this year is to go back to training for half marathons — like, for time, not just to finish. I haven’t had a half marathon PR in almost two years now! So I’ll be doing some training plan “shopping” soon, too. 😀
