2017 Kelly Brush Ride

This weekend we went up to Vermont for the Kelly Brush Bike Ride to raise money for the Kelly Brush Foundation. I have been doing this ride for years and love being involved in the Foundation. Every year at the ride I have so much fun and see all my old friends from the skiing community.

This year I almost didn’t go because the Tone It Up Tour was in Boston and they had asked me to Volunteer. I was so close to skiing the bike ride to go to the Tour. I mean, I would be able to meet amazing women, work out, drink Rose and experience something new. Now that I write that, I am questioning my decision!

At the end of the day, I wanted to be with my family. Vinnie and Emerson were going no matter what and I didn’t want to spend the whole weekend alone. Sue me, I am addicted to my family!

I am sad I missed the Tone It Up tour, but I had a lot of fun riding with my sister, Vinnie and longtime friend, Annie. We cycled 50 miles together and managed to laugh the whole way. My butt and neck are sore but endurance wise, I managed!

I expected to lose steam and have to really dig deep but I was ok. Even though I am not in the shape I would like to be, I am not as bad as I sometimes think I am!

This year the Kelly Brush Foundation reached a whole new level of awesome. They had over 800 riders and raised $500,000 for people with spinal cord injuries and spinal cord prevention. That is truly incredible and a huge milestone. I was really honored to be a part of the day and happy I made the trip to Vermont to be with my friends and family on such a special day.

Monday: 4 mile trail run (Labor Day Weekend)
Tuesday: off
Wednesday: 30 min TIU toning + yoga at home
Thursday: 15 min TIU sunrise sculpt; 3×5 toning moves; 4 mile run (33 minutes)
Friday: 16 min arm routine – TIU flex friday; 30 minute run
Saturday: rode 50 miles for KBF
Sunday: 20 min yoga at home

Columbus Day Weekend 2015 & Weekly Workout Recap

I hope everyone is enjoying Columbus Day Weekend. We had a fun fall filled weekend. We visited one of my good friends and went apple picking and on Sunday we went to the Topsfield Fair with my family. I have lots of pictures to share the weekend.

Weekly Workout Recap:

Monday: Ran 40 minutes and Yoga Sculpt Class at CPY

Tuesday: 35 minute total body toning and 30 minute treadmill run

Wednesday: 3.5 mile run

Thursday: 5 mile run

Friday: Rest

Saturday: Rest — walking while apple picking

Sunday: 75 minute yoga class at CPY

This week, I did well with my workouts. I reached my goals of doing yoga at least twice and running at least 3 times. The more I do these recaps, the more I realize I need to work on my diet in order to see changes. I consistently fit in my workout… Yes, I could run longer or do more high intensity work outs but either way, I exercise at least 5 times a week. My diet is what I need to change. I need to work on this, stop snacking so much and create a plan I can follow.

Goals for this week: I am traveling most of this week, so I won’t be able to do yoga but I am still going to try to fit in some runs. I want to try to run 30 miles this week. That is a lot compared to what I have been doing but when you do the math out it’s 4.2 miles a day. I can do that!

My real goal this week is going to be to focus on my diet. It’s going to be hard because I am traveling and won’t have as much control, but I want to challenge my willpower and only eat what I really want and until I am satisfied. I, too often, eat just to eat.  Here goes nothing!

A Surprise 60th and Weekly Workouts [9.30.15]

It’s Monday already?? This weekend we traveled down to NYC to surprise Vinnie’s aunt for her 60th birthday party. It was a total success, she was completely surprised. We all hide outside and when she walked up to the house we jumped out and said surprise. It was perfect! And then, the Italian fiesta ensued… There was endless amounts of food and drink, overwhelming love and a late night poker game.

I didn’t take a ton of pictures because I was trying to be in the moment. I have not spent a ton of time in NY with Vinnie’s aunts and cousins. They typically come up to Vermont. It was so fun to see them in their element, so comfortable, loving, happy and together. I feel very honored and privileged to be welcomed with such open arms into their family.

Because of work and traveling this weekend, I didn’t work out as much as I wanted to this week, below is the weekly recap.

Last week, I wanted to run 3-4 times and practice yoga 2-3 times and I accomplished that! It’s funny because I still feel like I didn’t work out enough. But, it’s nice to look back and realize I accomplished what I set out to. It’s a good reminder to celebrate the small victories and not always look at the negative.

My goals for this week are the same as last week,  run 3-4 times and practice yoga 2-3 times. This week, I also want to include toning exercises 2-3 times.

Weekly Workouts [9.21.15]

Good Monday Day to you all! 

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine went by so fast. On Saturday night I could of sworn it was only Friday. I was so bummed when I realized I only had one more morning to sleep in.  

This weekend, I spent a lot of time with my family, watching my sister play lacrosse. It was fun and a rare occasion to have all the siblings together (plus cousins and aunts and Lofo).

One big thing from the weekend is that I officially finished all the teacher training for my yoga certification. I completed the extension program that CorePower offers and now all I have left to do is get a job! CorePower has auditions the second Wednesday of every month and I’m worried I’m not gonna be here in October or November so I’m going to have to wait until December which totally sucks. I might try to get a job somewhere else in the mean time. I don’t want to lose everything I’ve learned or lose my enthusiasm and excitement to teach. 


In other news, I want to start keeping track of my work outs for the week so I not only hold myself accountable but also so I can refer back to them when I need a little extra motivation or want to see what I was doing on a specific week. Feel free to join me! Here goes the first week…

Sunday: taught yoga at Corepower; rest day 

My goals for this week are to run 3-4 times and practice yoga 2-3 times. And (as always) I am going to focus on eating lean, clean, and green…avoiding (come on, willpower) processed foods and all the junk/snacks/baked goods around the office.

Marvelous Monday Weekend Recap

Happy Christmas Week!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. This holiday season really snuck up on me. I can not believe Christmas is this week. I have had my nose in my computer far too much, I need to pick my head up and smell the eggnog…

Speaking of eggnog…I went to a few Christmas parties last week which is a total blast. They all featured festive eggnog!

My brother, Willie, and I were really enjoying the local eggnog! I seriously think it tasted better because it was local and organic. This holiday party was with a ton of our friends we grew up with in NH so it was really fun to get together, reminisce and celebrate the Holiday’s together.

Another party I attended had a caricature artist and a gingerbread making dessert station which was a really fun idea! Although, the picture of Vinnie and I looks nothing like us! What do you think?

UNH Football Vs Illinois

On Saturday, we drove up to UNH to watch the semi-final football game. I believe this is the farthest UNH has made it in the playoffs for many many years so it was a really exciting game and fun to watch with my family because they are all huge sports fans. Unfortunately, UNH lost in the final minutes of the game, but it was still a great way to spend a Saturday!

Sunday, I woke up and made Vinnie and I protein pancakes to start the day. They were just ok… I need to perfect them so Vinnie will keep eating them 🙂

Sunday Patriot Game Snack Spread

Then we went to my grandparents house to watch the Patriots. This has become a little Sunday tradition for us and we love doing it. They feed us all sorts of crazy snacks that I can never resist chowing on so I always leave incredibly full and super tired from eating and watching tv in a warm cozy house all day. But, it’s worth it!

With all these Christmas parties, comes a lot of eating and drinking. It’s been overwhelming me a bit because I feel like I haven’t done the best job of saying no or resisting the urge to try everything at the party. It’s really hard to do and I am constantly working at it. This season I have done a less than stellar job, but it’s not over, Christmas isn’t even here yet, and I won’t give up on my will power. The second I do that, getting back on track in the New Year will be even harder. I have a lot more Holiday parties to attend and I want to have fun and enjoy myself but I also want to feel good the next day and fit into my clothes. It’s all about the balance!

Part of maintaining the balance is fitting in workouts during this hectic time of year. I haven’t been doing as much as I would like but I am finding time to at least move a little bit every day which is better than nothing! This weeks workouts were:

Monday: 5 mile run

Tuesday: 24 minute HIIT & at-home yoga

Wednesday: 4 treadmill miles

Thursday: Arm workout

Friday: Treadmill Interval Run & HIIT circuit {I will share this workout with you soon, it was killer. People were definitely starring at me at the gym!} It was a variation of this cardio routine.

Saturday: Rest

Sunday: 7 mile run
